Young Burundian Entrepreneur Empowers Disabled Youth Through Innovative Skincare

Vianney Saidi Baseka, a young entrepreneur from Bujumbura, Burundi, is gaining attention for his company, UJEAD-AKEZA.

After nearly 100 job application rejections, Baseka, who is paralysed in one arm, turned adversity into innovation, founding Burundi’s first company producing medical soaps and antiseptics from everyday food ingredients. His products quickly earned praise from customers for their effectiveness.

But beyond skincare solutions, Baseka is empowering lives by providing meaningful employment to 47 young people with disabilities. He now plans to expand, creating even more opportunities and reducing Burundi’s reliance on imported cosmetics.
