Yemen’s Houthis and Israel Engage in Tit-for-Tat Airport Bombings
Tensions are surging in the Middle East after Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis launched a hypersonic missile at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport—the first to directly hit inside the airport’s perimeter—briefly halting flights and prompting fierce Israeli retaliation.
The Houthis framed the attack as “solidarity” with Palestinians in Gaza and declared a full air blockade on Israel.
In response, Israel bombed Yemen’s Hodeidah port and later struck Sanaa’s main airport and power stations, killing and injuring dozens.
With Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing further action and warning Iran, the region teeters on the edge of a broader conflict.
