Veterans Protest in Washington Against Trump’s Cuts to VA Services
Hundreds of U.S. military veterans gathered in Washington, D.C., on Friday to protest the Trump administration’s cuts to veterans’ services and benefits. The demonstration, part of the Veterans March, is one of many nationwide protests against the administration’s policies affecting former service members.
Protesters chanted anti-Trump slogans and held signs reading “Impeach, Indict, Imprison” and “We the People Choose Democracy.” The rally comes amid the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to reduce the federal workforce under the leadership of Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has already laid off 2,500 employees, with 80,000 additional job cuts expected in 2025. Veterans and advocates warn that these cuts will severely impact healthcare access and essential services for those who served.
With further layoffs expected, protesters have vowed to continue demonstrating against the administration’s policies affecting veterans.
