What are the Ukrainian Territories under Russian Control?
Russia currently controls around 19% of Ukraine, including Crimea, large parts of Donbas, and sections of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson. While Moscow claims these regions as Russian territory, Ukraine and the international community view them as occupied Ukrainian land. The annexation of Crimea in 2014 and recognition of separatist republics in Donbas in 2022 intensified the conflict. Putin’s peace conditions include Ukraine withdrawing from claimed territories, halting NATO’s eastward expansion, adopting neutrality, limiting its military, and recognizing Russia’s territorial gains.
