U.S. Announces Historic $50 Million Bounty on Venezuela’s President

The U.S. government has raised its reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to $50 million, accusing him of running a decades-long cocaine trafficking operation in coordination with FARC rebels and Mexican drug cartels. Attorney General Pam Bondi labeled Maduro a major national security threat and detailed the seizure of over $700 million in assets and 30 tons of cocaine linked to him. Venezuela’s government dismissed the move as “pathetic” propaganda, while Maduro continues to reject the charges stemming from a 2020 federal indictment under the Trump administration.
