What is TrumpRx? Trump’s plan with Pfizer to lower drug prices
President Donald Trump has announced the creation of TrumpRx, a direct-to-consumer website designed to cut prescription drug prices in the United States.
The initiative includes a sweeping deal with Pfizer, which has agreed to sell many of its primary care and specialty brand-name medicines at discounts averaging 50%.
Under the agreement, Pfizer will also expand its US manufacturing footprint while benefiting from a three-year reprieve on certain tariffs. The TrumpRx platform, expected to go live in early 2026, will not directly sell medications but instead redirect users to manufacturers’ channels, making it easier for Americans to find discounted drugs.
Trump has long criticized the fact that Americans pay nearly three times more for medications compared to Europe and Canada, where governments negotiate or regulate prices.
The plan revives his push for “Most Favored Nation” pricing, meaning Americans would pay no more than patients in peer nations. While industry experts warn the impact may depend on insurance structures and supply chains, the announcement signals one of the boldest efforts yet to lower drug costs in the US.
