Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize Fan Club Is Growing
In 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump became an unexpected favorite for the Nobel Peace Prize among a group of world leaders.
The nomination streak began with Pakistan, which credited Trump’s diplomatic intervention in a brief India–Pakistan conflict. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu followed, personally presenting Trump with a nomination letter at the White House.
Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet joined in, citing Trump’s role in halting a border clash with Thailand.
The list grew further after an August peace summit in Washington brought together Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev. The two leaders not only signed an agreement ending decades of hostilities but also proposed a joint Nobel nomination, joking about signing the paperwork on the spot.
In total, Trump has at least five formal nominations for the award. While he has openly criticized the Nobel committee in the past and doubts he will win, the October 10 announcement is circled on political watchers’ calendars.
