Trump Marks Anniversary in Office, Defends Immigration Crackdown

President Donald Trump spoke at a White House briefing marking the anniversary of his return to office, calling the past year an “amazing period of time” and pointing to what he described as major accomplishments in military strength and ending wars. Trump said his administration has achieved more than any previous administration, particularly in national security. He also defended ongoing immigration enforcement efforts, describing criminal cases involving undocumented immigrants and blaming what he called “open border” policies under former President Joe Biden. Trump cited examples from Minnesota and California, arguing that individuals with extensive criminal records should be removed from the country. He said his administration’s goal is to deport those individuals and return them to prisons, jails, or institutions in their countries of origin.
