Trump Calls Bezos, Amazon Scraps Tariff Plan

Amazon found itself at the center of a political storm after considering a plan to display U.S. import tariffs on its low-cost platform, Amazon Haul.

The White House labeled the idea a “hostile and political act,” prompting a personal call from President Trump to Jeff Bezos. Amazon quickly denied the report, stating the plan was never approved.

Trump later praised Bezos, saying he “solved the problem very quickly.” As backlash grew, the White House resurfaced a 2021 Reuters report alleging Amazon’s links to Chinese censorship, with officials urging Americans to “buy American.”
