Tony Hawk’s 1999 “900” Skateboard Sells for $1.15 Million

Tony Hawk’s skateboard from his historic 1999 “900” trick at the X Games sold for $1.15 million at Julien’s Auctions, setting a world record for skateboarding memorabilia and more than doubling its pre-sale estimate.

The sale was part of “Tony Hawk: The 900 Collection,” which featured Hawk’s iconic gear from that moment, including his helmet, sneakers, and knee pads, all fetching six-figure sums.

Hawk himself attended the auction in Hollywood, personally bringing down the hammer, and confirmed that proceeds will go to his nonprofit, The Skatepark Project, which builds skateparks in underserved areas.

Auctioneers called the result a cultural milestone, underscoring Hawk’s impact on sports history, skateboarding’s rise from niche subculture to global phenomenon, and the enduring legacy of the trick that defined a generation of extreme sports.
