US Ramping Up Military Assets in Middle East Amid Tensions With Yemen and Iran

The United States is expanding its military presence in the Middle East by deploying a second aircraft carrier, the USS Carl Vinson, to join the USS Harry S. Truman already stationed in the region.

This move comes amid an ongoing campaign of near-daily airstrikes against Yemen’s Huthi rebels, aimed at deterring their attacks on commercial and military vessels.

The Huthis began targeting Red Sea shipping routes in response to the 2023 Gaza war, leading to major disruptions in global trade and forcing many vessels to reroute around southern Africa.

In parallel, President Donald Trump has intensified pressure on Iran, warning of potential bombing if no progress is made on its nuclear program.
