Target Faces Employee Backlash Over ICE Raid Response

Target is facing a significant internal revolt from its own workforce following the detention of two employees by ICE agents inside a suburban Minneapolis store.

More than 300 employees have signed an internal letter directly to executives, demanding the company take a public stand against the enforcement actions and implement concrete measures to protect staff, including barring ICE agents from Target properties and providing clear protocols for workers if agents arrive.

The pressure intensified as President Trump’s “Operation Metro Surge” deployed thousands of ICE agents to the Minneapolis area, making workplaces like Target a focal point for arrests.

In response, Target’s new CEO, Michael Fiddelke, released a video message emphasizing team safety but notably failed to address the ICE incident directly or mention the agency by name, a vagueness that mirrored a joint letter from over 60 Minnesota business leaders calling for de-escalation without naming ICE.

This corporate silence has fueled employee anger, creating a stark conflict between Target’s public brand and the immediate safety concerns of its employees on the front lines of the nation’s immigration enforcement.
