TAJANI URGES GAZA CEASEFIRE, HAMAS MUST GO FOR PALESTINE RECOGNITION

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and stresses that the recognition of a Palestinian state must occur only once Hamas is removed from power. Tajani outlines Italy’s support for stability in Syria, condemns attacks on Gaza and Jordan by settlers and Israeli forces, and highlights plans to sanction violent settlers and officials who back illegal activities. He emphasizes that Hamas is co-responsible for ongoing violence and must release hostages. Tajani reiterates Italy’s commitment to a two-state solution and the politics of peace between peoples, while making clear that a Palestinian state cannot include areas governed by Hamas.
