South Korea Warns North’s Missiles Near Completion

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung warned in New York that North Korea is in the “final stage” of developing intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of carrying nuclear warheads to the United States.

He said the only major obstacle left is re-entry technology, which Pyongyang appears close to mastering.

Lee estimated the North is producing enough material for 15–20 nuclear bombs annually and stressed that freezing both nuclear development and missile production would bring significant security benefits.

While Kim Jong Un has ruled out denuclearization and strengthened ties with Russia, he said this week he was open to talks with Washington—but only if he keeps his nuclear arsenal.
