Shein Removes Viral Shirt Depicting Murder Suspect Luigi Mangione

Fast-fashion giant Shein has come under scrutiny after a product listing on its site featured what appeared to be an edited image of Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024.

The shirt, a floral short-sleeve button-down priced at $11.69, was uploaded by a third-party vendor and reportedly sold out in several sizes before being removed.

Shein said it is investigating the incident and will strengthen monitoring processes to ensure listings meet its standards. It remains unclear whether artificial intelligence was used to manipulate the image, but the photo spread quickly on social media, appearing on major pop culture accounts such as Pop Crave.

Mangione, a University of Pennsylvania graduate currently facing the death penalty in federal court, has developed a surprising cult following, with supporters framing him as an anti-hero amid frustrations with the healthcare system.

While prosecutors describe the killing as a calculated and cold-blooded crime, his image has nonetheless become part of internet culture and protests.
