Several Killed in Damascus Church Suicide Attack; Is ISIS Back in Syria?

A devastating shooting and suicide bombing at Saint Elias Church in Damascus on Sunday killed at least 22 people and injured 63 during a packed service.

Syrian authorities blamed the Islamic State group for the rare direct attack on a church in the capital since the civil war began in 2011.

The Syrian Orthodox patriarchate and international observers condemned the attack and urged the new Syrian authorities to prioritize minority safety as investigations continue.
