Reuters Exposes Fentanyl Supply Chain to the U.S.
Reuters has won the Pulitzer Prize for its seven-part investigative series “Fentanyl Express,” which exposed how fentanyl enters the United States.
The fentanyl investigation revealed that Chinese suppliers use legal loopholes to ship chemicals through Mexico and into the U.S., fueling a crisis linked to over 450,000 American deaths.
The Reuters fentanyl report showed how reporters purchased all the ingredients for the drug for just $3,600, enough to produce $3 million worth. The fentanyl from China often entered via uninspected shipments under $800.
Although the Trump administration recently closed this loophole, the U.S. fentanyl crisis continues.
