Private numbers of Australia PM and Trump Jr found on AI data site
A U.S.-based website that uses artificial intelligence to scrape public data has exposed the private phone numbers of high-profile individuals, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Donald Trump Jr.
The platform, which claims to hold contact details for hundreds of millions of professionals, compiles information from sources such as social media, corporate filings, and job portals. The BBC verified the authenticity of several listings, including Albanese’s current private number and an active contact for Trump Jr., although it remains unclear how the data was obtained.
The incident has sparked privacy concerns in Australia, where authorities have launched an investigation after independent outlet Ette Media first reported the breach. The opposition described the exposure as “obviously concerning” and called for the removal of all affected information.
Similar entries were found for former U.S. presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, as well as U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The website offers limited free searches and paid access, along with an opt-out form, but experts say such databases highlight growing risks linked to AI-driven data collection and the erosion of personal privacy online.
