Paris Immortalizes Kurdish Peshmerga with Historic Alley Dedication

Paris has officially honored the Kurdish Peshmerga with the inauguration of a new “Peshmerga Alley” in André Citroën Park, marking a historic moment of recognition for their sacrifices and unwavering fight for freedom, human rights, and democracy.

The ceremony brought together Kurdish President Masoud Barzani, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, and numerous French and international dignitaries, highlighting decades of French support for the Kurdish people.

President Barzani praised France for its consistent humanitarian stance, recalled the 11,000 Peshmerga who were martyred or wounded in the fight against ISIS, and reaffirmed that Kurdistan will remain a place of coexistence and protection for human rights.

Mayor Hidalgo celebrated the Peshmerga as symbols of resilience and freedom, while Paris officially placed the Kurdish fighters on its city map, cementing their legacy and the deep bond between the Kurdish and French peoples.
