Nestlé CEO Fired Over Secret Office Romance
Nestlé, the Swiss food giant behind KitKat and Nespresso, has dismissed CEO Laurent Freixe after an internal investigation revealed he had an undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate, breaching the company’s code of conduct.
Freixe, a company veteran who joined in 1986 and became CEO in September 2024, was removed with immediate effect.
The board, led by chairman Paul Bulcke, emphasized that Nestlé’s governance standards left no room for such violations, despite Freixe’s decades of service.
Philipp Navratil, formerly CEO of Nespresso, has been appointed as Nestlé’s new chief executive, tasked with steering the company through a challenging consumer market.
