How Musk’s $15M GOP Gifts Set the Stage for His America Party

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has injected millions into U.S. politics once again.

Newly released Federal Election Commission filings show that Musk donated $15 million on June 27 to three major Republican-aligned super PACs: MAGA Inc., the Senate Leadership Fund, and the Congressional Leadership Fund.

The contributions made him the largest individual donor to each group during that period. The timing is notable, as Musk announced just days later that he would launch his own political movement, the “America Party.”

Musk’s political spending has become a defining feature of his public role. In 2024, he spent more than $290 million backing Donald Trump and his congressional allies, even serving briefly in Trump’s White House to head a cost-cutting office. This year, Musk also directed $45 million into America PAC, his own super PAC. While he pledged to step back from politics earlier, the latest filings suggest otherwise.

His donations highlight both his continued alignment with Republican power structures and his potential ambitions beyond them.

Whether his America Party becomes a reality remains to be seen, but the filings make one thing clear: Musk remains one of the most influential private donors shaping U.S. elections.
