Mexican State Deploys Tesla Cybertrucks to Combat Cartel Violence Ahead of 2026 World Cup

The western Mexican state of Jalisco, long afflicted by cartel violence, unveiled a fleet of Tesla Cybertrucks to patrol its streets.

This initiative is part of a $51 million investment in over 690 new vehicles—including 200 police motorbikes—to boost security ahead of Guadalajara hosting four matches during the 2026 World Cup.

Equipped with Starlink satellite internet, the Cybertrucks provide reliable connectivity in remote rural areas.

One Cybertruck was instrumental in arresting two officers recruiting for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

With Jalisco recording over 15,000 missing persons—the highest in Mexico—officials believe these advanced patrols will help deter organized crime before the major international event.
