Kurds rally at home and abroad amid escalating conflict in northern Syria

Protests were held across several European cities and the Middle East as Kurdish communities called for an immediate halt to military operations targeting Kurdish areas in northern Syria.

Demonstrations were reported in cities across Germany and the United Kingdom, where protesters urged Western governments to pressure Damascus to stop the escalation and protect civilians from ongoing attacks.

The protests followed reports of intensified military operations by the Syrian army in Kurdish-controlled areas of northern Syria. Protesters described the situation as a serious threat to civilian safety and called for urgent international action to prevent further harm.

At the same time, large demonstrations took place across the Kurdistan Region, including in Erbil, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, and Zakho. Participants emphasized the need to protect Kurdish political and social gains and expressed solidarity with civilians and fighters in areas subjected to shelling.

In Europe and the region, protesters directed appeals to the United Nations and the international community, stating that protecting Kurdish civilians is a legal and moral responsibility.

In Turkey, protests were also reported in the city of Diyarbakir, where police intervened to disperse demonstrators, leading to clashes and arrests.
