One App to Access All Government Services? Kurdistan Just Launched It
Kurdistan’s Regional Government has launched KRDPASS, a mobile app designed to centralize and simplify public services for its citizens.
Available on iOS and Android, the platform allows users to register in minutes using digital ID verification and facial recognition. Once registered, citizens can securely access key government services directly from their smartphones, eliminating the need for paper-based processes and physical visits to government offices.
Current features include checking monthly salary details for public employees, managing registered business information, and receiving official notifications. Adoption has been rapid, with more than 100,000 people signing up in the first 10 days and over 1,000 new users joining every hour.
Looking ahead, KRDPASS will add new services such as submitting Hajj requests, tracking electricity usage, and responding to government notices electronically. One of the most anticipated updates is a “digital wallet,” which will allow citizens to store official documents in secure digital form and eventually use them for formal transactions.
Developed over six years, KRDPASS is part of a broader push to modernize governance, improve transparency, and make public services more accessible, reflecting a global trend toward mobile-first, citizen-centered government platforms.
