Kurdistan Lights Up: Region Moves Toward 24/7 Electricity for All by 2026

Iraq’s Kurdistan region has achieved a major milestone by delivering 24-hour electricity to 30% of its population through “Project Runaki,” a bold initiative to phase out private generators and provide cleaner, more reliable power.

With full coverage expected by 2026, the effort has already cut CO₂ emissions, lowered energy costs, and improved daily life for residents in cities like Erbil and Duhok.
