Kurdish Heritage Present at Milano Fashion Week

At Milano Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer 2026 season, renowned Kurdish designer Lara Dizeyee presented a collection that merged high fashion with deep cultural symbolism.

Each outfit embodied elements of Kurdish heritage, history, and struggle, turning the runway into a living canvas of identity.

The show opened with a striking design inspired by the Erbil Citadel, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited sites and a cultural anchor for the Kurdish people.

Other pieces drew inspiration from Newroz, the Kurdish New Year, and honored the resilience of the Yazidi Kurds.

Among the most emotional works was the “Widow” design, a tribute to Kurdish women who endured loss and hardship across decades of conflict.

The finale carried a powerful message; a design emblazoned with the colors of the Kurdistan flag, celebrating resilience and hope for the future.

Dizeyee’s collection not only showcased couture craftsmanship but also elevated Kurdish identity onto one of fashion’s most prestigious global stages.
