Kaine Stresses Importance of Sustaining U.S.–Iraq Relationship

Senator Tim Kaine said the United States must do everything possible to maintain a stable and constructive relationship with Iraq, even as Iranian influence in the country remains a persistent concern. Kaine noted that given Iran’s geographic proximity and longstanding ties to Iraq, the U.S. cannot realistically expect to eliminate that influence entirely. Instead, he emphasized steady engagement and pragmatic diplomacy to keep the partnership on track.
