The “Job-Pocalypse”: How AI Is Replacing Young Workers
A new international study has sounded the alarm on what experts are calling a “job-pocalypse,” as artificial intelligence rapidly replaces human labor—particularly among young workers entering the job market.
Conducted by the British Standards Institution (BSI), the research surveyed more than 850 business leaders across seven major economies, including the United States, the UK, Japan, and China.
The findings reveal a deep shift in employment trends: 41% of executives said AI has already enabled them to reduce headcount, while nearly a third admitted they now seek AI solutions before considering human hires.
The consequences are most severe for Gen Z workers, with one in four business leaders believing entry-level tasks could soon be entirely automated.
BSI’s CEO Susan Taylor Martin cautioned that while AI promises vast productivity gains, it also threatens to erode human potential unless companies invest in training and long-term workforce development.
As the world races to integrate AI, experts say this moment will define the balance between innovation and humanity in the global economy.
