Iraq’s Prime Minister Inaugurates Mosul Airport Years After IS Devastation
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has reopened Mosul’s international airport, nearly eight years after it was destroyed during the battle to oust the Islamic State group.
The airport, which had been non-operational since IS declared its ‘caliphate’ from the city in 2014, is now fully restored and is ready to resume domestic and international flights.
The revamped facility features a modern terminal, a VIP lounge, and radar systems, and is expected to handle over 600,000 passengers annually.
