Iran’s President Claims Israel Tried to Assassinate Him

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused Israel of attempting to assassinate him during last month’s 12-day war, in a dramatic interview with Tucker Carlson.

He said Israel bombed the area where he was meeting officials, though the attempt failed.

On June 16, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not rule out plans to assassinate Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying it would “end the conflict” after reports emerged at the time that US President Donald Trump had vetoed the move.

The conflict, which killed over 1,000 people in Iran and 28 in Israel, disrupted nuclear talks with the US and included Israeli and American strikes on key Iranian nuclear facilities.
