Hollywood Stars Push Back Against AI Actress Tilly Norwood

The debut of “Tilly Norwood,” an AI-generated actress created by Dutch comedian and producer Eline Van der Velden, has sparked fierce debate in Hollywood.

Marketed online with a glossy Instagram presence and video skits, Tilly looks and acts like a young aspiring performer, but she’s entirely synthetic.

The project has drawn heavy criticism from A-list stars, with Emily Blunt calling the AI actress “terrifying,” Natasha Lyonne urging boycotts of agencies that represent her, and Whoopi Goldberg insisting audiences will always recognize the difference between real humans and digital copies.

The actors’ union SAG-AFTRA also warned that such creations risk undermining performers’ livelihoods, jeopardizing jobs, and devaluing human artistry.

The controversy comes just two years after Hollywood’s massive strikes over AI protections for writers and actors, reviving fears about technology replacing people in creative industries.

While Tilly’s creator argues the character is a form of art, many see her as a threat to the future of acting.
