In New Book, Harris Says Biden’s Re-Election Campaign Was Reckless

Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has delivered her most pointed criticism yet of her former boss in her forthcoming memoir 107 Days, set for release on September 23.

In excerpts published by The Atlantic, Harris described President Joe Biden’s decision to seek re-election in 2024 as “recklessness,” arguing that the choice should have been based on the stakes for the country rather than personal ambition.

Harris wrote that as vice president, she was in the “worst position” to advise Biden against running, since any such advice would have appeared self-serving or disloyal. She recalled moments when she felt sidelined, such as when her role in Latin America was overshadowed by the “border czar” label, and when she was barely mentioned in a major White House address after a hurricane in Texas.

While she acknowledged Biden’s intelligence and long experience, Harris said his age, he was 81 during the campaign, showed in physical and verbal stumbles.

Biden ultimately withdrew from the 2024 race after a poor debate performance against Donald Trump, who went on to win the presidency.
