Grokipedia: Elon Musk’s War Against Wikipedia

Elon Musk, the billionaire behind Tesla, SpaceX, and X, has announced the launch of “Grokipedia”, a rival to Wikipedia that he claims will be a “massive improvement” over the world’s most famous online encyclopedia.

Built under his xAI company, Grokipedia aims to challenge what Musk calls Wikipedia’s “far-left bias” and restore balance in how knowledge is presented online.

Musk has escalated his feud with Wikipedia in recent weeks—mocking it as “Wokipedia,” urging users to stop donating to the Wikimedia Foundation, and accusing its editors of acting like political activists rather than neutral curators of information.

His tension with Wikipedia is long-standing, dating back to disputes over edits to his own biography.

Digital media experts see Grokipedia as part of Musk’s broader strategy to control narratives and rival established information sources, just as he did with X.

While Musk promises accuracy and neutrality, skeptics warn his platform could deepen political polarization in the digital information space.
