Graham Calls for Expanded U.S. Presence in Greenland

Senator Lindsey Graham says the United States should significantly expand its economic and military presence in Greenland, calling the Arctic territory strategically critical amid growing Russian and Chinese activity in the region. Graham emphasized that while he is not advocating for a U.S. takeover of Greenland, Washington must reassess its legal and strategic relationship with the territory if it plans to invest heavily and deploy personnel. He described the issue as a negotiation and a “work in progress,” arguing that a stronger U.S. role would benefit NATO’s collective defense and long-term Arctic security.
