Gaza Famine Unfolding: UN-backed Monitor Sounds Alarm
A UN-backed food security monitor has warned that a “worst-case scenario” famine is now unfolding in Gaza, where over 20,000 children have already been treated for acute malnutrition and at least 16 have died of hunger since mid-July. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) said only immediate and unimpeded humanitarian access can prevent mass starvation. Despite limited air drops and recent aid deliveries, experts stress that food must reach Gaza by road to save lives and reverse the crisis.
