France Battles Its Worst Wildfire Since 1949

A historic wildfire has devastated southern France, burning over 16,000 hectares of land, killing one person, and leaving three others missing. Officials say it’s the country’s worst fire since 1949. The blaze, intensified by months of drought and strong winds, has destroyed homes and critically injured two people. Environment Minister Agnès Pannier-Runacher blamed climate change and warned of more fires ahead, as another heatwave looms. Fire crews are still struggling to bring the fire under control near the Spanish border.
