Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani Injured in Crash
Rudy Giuliani, the 81-year-old former mayor of New York City, was hospitalized after being injured in a car accident in Manchester, New Hampshire.
According to police and his security team, Giuliani was a passenger in a Ford Bronco that was struck from behind, leaving him with a fractured vertebra, lacerations, and injuries to his arm and leg. He is reported to be in stable condition.
Giuliani first rose to prominence in the 1990s when he was elected mayor of New York in 1993. He became nationally recognized during the September 11, 2001, attacks, earning the nickname “America’s Mayor” for his leadership during the crisis.
After leaving city hall, he made an unsuccessful run for the presidency in 2008 and later became an adviser and personal lawyer to Donald Trump, remaining closely involved through Trump’s 2016 campaign and into his presidency.
Giuliani continued to be a public figure after the 2020 election, and earlier this year reached a settlement in a high-profile defamation case.
Police confirmed that all individuals involved in the crash sustained non-life-threatening injuries and that the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
