FIFA unveils TRIONDA: What the 2026 World Cup ball means

FIFA has officially launched TRIONDA, the match ball for the 2026 World Cup, a tournament set to make history as the first to be co-hosted by three nations, the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The ball’s name, derived from the Spanish word for “three waves,” highlights this unique partnership, while its red, green, and blue colors pay tribute to each host country. In addition to its striking design, TRIONDA carries symbolic elements: Canada’s maple leaf, Mexico’s eagle, and the United States’ star, all accented with golden details that echo the World Cup trophy.

Beyond aesthetics, TRIONDA is built for performance. FIFA and adidas incorporated deep seams for stability and embossed textures to improve grip in wet conditions. Most notably, it houses a 500Hz motion sensor chip, which tracks every movement of the ball in real time, giving referees and VAR officials the data needed to make faster, more accurate decisions on critical moments like offsides.

The unveiling of TRIONDA follows FIFA’s reveal of the official mascots and comes ahead of the final tournament draw in Washington, D.C., on December 5, 2025.
