Police in Shanghai have dismantled a criminal ring producing and selling counterfeit Labubu dolls, seizing 5,000 fake toys worth $1.7 million and arresting eight individuals.
Labubu dolls, created by Beijing-based Pop Mart and flaunted by celebrities like Rihanna and Dua Lipa, have sparked a global craze.
With limited releases and soaring demand, the toys have become a target for fraud and theft, even drawing attention in criminal cases from Singapore to California.
