Europe’s Top Rights Court Blames Russia for MH17 Tragedy in Landmark Ruling

In a historic judgment, the European Court of Human Rights ruled Russia responsible for the 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, which killed all 298 people aboard.

The court said Russian forces and separatists in eastern Ukraine violated international law by firing a Russian-made Buk missile at the plane.

It also condemned Russia’s failure to properly investigate the tragedy or cooperate in legal proceedings.

While Moscow has dismissed the ruling as “void”, Ukraine hailed the decision as a major legal and moral victory.
