Jeffrey Epstein Accuser Sues US Government for Neglecting Victims’ Safety
Maria Farmer filed a lawsuit in US District Court for the District of Columbia, accusing the Justice Department, US attorney’s offices, and the FBI of negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress after they allegedly failed to act on her 1996 report that Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell sexually assaulted her and exploited her underage sisters.
Despite federal mandates to investigate child sex abuse, the lawsuit claims the FBI took no steps, allowing Epstein’s abuse to continue unabated until his 2019 suicide.
Maxwell was later convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Farmer now seeks damages under the Federal Tort Claims Act to hold the federal government accountable for its alleged failures.
