Ellen DeGeneres Confirms Move to UK After Trump’s Re-Election

Ellen DeGeneres has officially confirmed that she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, relocated to the UK in 2024, shortly after Donald Trump secured re-election.

Speaking at an event in Cheltenham, the former talk show host explained that the decision to stay in the UK came after waking up to election news and re-evaluating their future in the U.S.

The couple settled in the Cotswolds, where DeGeneres praised the lifestyle, environmental conditions, and public attitudes, noting that “everything feels better” there.

DeGeneres also addressed the backlash surrounding the end of her talk show in 2022, noting that the criticism over workplace culture deeply affected her public image and career.

Since relocating, she has maintained a lower profile and suggested she has no intention of returning to U.S. television for now.
