Eight-Year Arizona Cold Case Solved Thanks to a GoFundMe Message
An unsolved 2017 Arizona murder has finally been cracked — thanks to an unexpected online tip.
Investigators say a message sent to a GoFundMe page for victim Evin Paulos’s family led them to Mexico, where they arrested the prime suspect, Michael Anthony Arredondo.
Paulos, 25, had been stabbed around 30 times after leaving with Arredondo, a former neighbor, in what began as a friendship turned fatal.
After years of no progress, a Spanish message sent to the fundraising page included a photo of the suspect, triggering a coordinated effort between Mexican and U.S. authorities.
Arredondo was captured, extradited, and has since confessed, according to Phoenix police.
The family, who fled Iraq decades ago seeking peace, finally received closure — all because of one message from a stranger.
