Denmark Grant Citizens Copyright Over Their Features in Deepfake Crackdown

Denmark is set to become the first European country to legally protect citizens from AI-generated deepfakes by amending its copyright laws.

The new legislation would give individuals the right to control the use of their voice, face, and likeness in digital content, targeting realistic imitations made without consent.

Backed by a strong parliamentary majority, the law aims to hold tech platforms accountable, allowing users to demand takedowns and seek compensation.

Parodies and satire will remain protected, but the government warns that non-compliance could lead to major fines and further EU-level regulation.
