Dean Cain, TV’s Superman, to Become Honorary ICE Officer
Dean Cain, best known for playing Superman in the 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, is preparing to take on a new role, this time in real life.
The 59-year-old actor told Fox News he will soon be sworn in as an “honorary ICE Officer,” according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). While the exact duties of the honorary role remain unclear, Cain already serves as a sworn deputy sheriff and reserve police officer.
Cain has publicly supported conservative policies for over a decade, endorsing Donald Trump in three elections. Earlier this week, he posted a video encouraging Americans to join ICE.
The push comes as DHS removes age limits for new hires, part of a recruitment drive fueled by significant new funding from Congress to expand immigration enforcement.
In announcing Cain’s honorary title, DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin referenced his Superman persona, saying he’s “encouraging Americans to be real-life superheroes.”
Warner Bros., which recently released a new Superman film starring David Corenswet, did not comment. The movie has grossed over $550 million worldwide but has drawn criticism from right-wing commentators who labeled it “woke” after director James Gunn described the character as being like an “immigrant.”
