Could Humans Escape Biological Death? Putin Told Xi It Might Be Possible

A hot mic at a Beijing summit revealed Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping discussing human immortality, with Putin suggesting organ transplants could let people grow younger and Xi predicting humans might live to 150 years.

Experts, however, warn these claims are far-fetched, noting that ageing involves complex changes in DNA, bones, tissues, and more.

While research in epigenetics and drugs like rapamycin has extended lifespans in animals, there is no evidence humans could achieve immortality.

Russia is investing $460 million in longevity research, while Silicon Valley billionaires like Peter Thiel are funding transhumanist projects.

Yet, scientists stress the real goal should be extending healthspan — the number of years lived in good health — rather than chasing eternal life.
