Controversy Over Nazi-Era T-Shirt During Winter Olympics

The International Olympic Committee is facing widespread criticism for selling a T-shirt commemorating the 1936 Berlin Games, the Olympics infamously used by Adolf Hitler to promote Nazi ideology and “Aryan” racial superiority.

The shirt, part of an Olympic heritage collection on the official Olympics website, quickly sold out amid the spotlight of the Milan-Cortina Winter Games.

Hitler openly belittled African American athletes, yet Jesse Owens emerged as the star of those games, winning four gold medals and shattering Nazi propaganda.

The IOC has defended the merchandise, stating the collection documents 130 years of Olympic art and history.
