Confederate Statue Returns to D.C. in 2025

The U.S. National Park Service announced that the statue of Confederate general and Freemason Albert Pike will be reinstalled in Washington, D.C. by October 2025, following its removal during the 2020 racial justice protests. The restoration is being carried out under two executive orders signed by President Donald Trump in his second term, aimed at preserving historical monuments and reshaping the capital’s appearance. Originally the only Confederate statue in D.C., Pike’s monument has become a flashpoint in America’s debate over history, race, and national memory.
