CBS Parent Pays Millions After Trump Interview Dispute

CBS parent company Paramount has agreed to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit filed by former President Donald Trump, who claimed the network deceptively edited a 60 Minutes interview with then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris in a way that misled viewers and favored the Democratic Party during the 2024 election.

The settlement, filed in federal court, directs the funds not to Trump personally, but to his future presidential library. Paramount emphasized that the agreement includes no apology or admission of wrongdoing.

The legal dispute stemmed from two versions of the interview aired by CBS, allegedly showing Harris giving conflicting responses about the Israel-Hamas war. Trump argued this editing violated consumer protection laws and initially sought $10 billion in damages, later raising it to $20 billion. Paramount also agreed to begin releasing full transcripts of future presidential candidate interviews aired on 60 Minutes.

The settlement follows earlier media payouts to Trump from ABC News and Meta Platforms. With the 2026 campaign season heating up, Trump has pledged to continue targeting what he deems biased media coverage.
