Six Brain Tumor Cases Reported Among Staff at Boston Hospital Floor

At least six staff members at Mass General Brigham’s Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts have developed benign brain tumors after working on the facility’s fifth-floor maternity unit, prompting concerns among employees and the nurses’ union.

While the hospital has stated that environmental testing—including water, air, and radiation analyses—has revealed no health risks so far, investigations are ongoing.

Additional staff have also reported unrelated health issues, intensifying scrutiny.

The Massachusetts Nurses Association is conducting its own inquiry, arguing the hospital’s testing was limited and insufficient to draw conclusions.
